WHAT IS THE O-SHOT®?

Our goal at New River Health and Wellness is to provide safe and effective options for women to renew their quality of life by restoring pelvic health. Dr. Campbell of New River Health and Wellness in Blacksburg, VA is pleased to offer patients a non-invasive, non-surgical in-office procedure to restore pelvic health. The O-Shot® is a procedure designed to improve sexual orgasm and to decrease urinary incontinence.

HOW DOES THE O-SHOT® WORK?

The O-Shot® is an in-office procedure that harvests platelet rich plasma (PRP) from your blood through a simple blood draw and injects it into erogenous areas of the vagina. The plasma that is separated from the blood is full of stem cells and growth factors that naturally generate new tissue and helps to rejuvenate sexual health, as well as treat the troublesome problems that come with urinary incontinence. Before the procedure, the areas being treated are numbed with an anesthetic cream so that the injection cause little to no pain. The results are often dramatic with women seeing results within days to weeks.*

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To start, blood is drawn from the arm. The blood is then placed in an FDA approved centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma, which takes about 10 minutes. While the blood is processing, we will apply a numbing cream to the injection site. Once the area is numbed, and the plasma is ready, we will use a very thin needle to inject the plasma into the clitoris and upper vagina.

Women that have had the O-Shot® have reported significant improvement or total resolution of urinary incontinence. Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles along with the plasma can greatly impact urinary incontinence.

Most women are very comfortable during the procedure. Treatment areas are numbed with a cream for maximum comfort, but a small percentage of women report a pinching or stinging sensation for a few moments. The numbing may last up to an hour after the treatment. Women may return to regular activity immediately after the O-Shot®.

Results may vary. Some women see results in a few days and others it takes a few weeks. In rare cases, there may not be any noticeable changes, but after eight weeks, women can get another procedure done.

No. Women that are currently pregnant or are breatfeeding should not recieve the O-Shot®.

Women often choose to repeat the O-Shot® every 12 to 18 months to maintain results.

No, the O-Shot® is not currently covered by insurance or Medicare.
