WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

Are your frown lines getting you down? New River Health and Wellness is pleased to offer its patients Xeomin®, an FDA-approved, non-invasive anti-wrinkle injection. This injection targets the proteins responsible for the formation of frown lines— giving you something to smile about.

HOW DOES XEOMIN® WORK?

As we age and our skin loses elasticity, the muscles between our eyebrows that are used to squint and frown begin to form creases and wrinkles in the skin. The main active ingredient of this injection is Botulinum toxin type A. When Dr. Campbell injects Xeomin® into the face, this Botulinum toxin type A targets the nerve endings and proteins in the muscles responsible for contractions. By reducing contractions, we temporarily reduce the appearance of frown lines.

THE XEOMIN® PROCESS

At New River Health and Wellness, we can perform Xeomin® injections here in our Blacksburg office. The procedure usually lasts 10-20 minutes and patients are discharged on the same day. While Dr. Campbell will not need to administer anesthesia, she may employ other methods to reduce pain and swelling in the affected area, such as anti-inflammatory medication or a cold compress. Most patients begin to see results in 3-4 days.
